PSHE

What are we aiming for?

At High Hesket CE School we believe that personal, social and health education (PSHE) as well as relationships and sex education (RSE) should be delivered in a supportive environment. We build on and complement the learning that has already started at home. We champion and trust that a collaborative culture involving the school, the family, the church and the wider community is fundamental in enabling children to develop personally, emotionally and as young citizens. We appreciate that effective teaching in these areas underpins all learning and it is our aim to develop happy and respectful individuals who fulfil their potential in all areas. Using our curriculum drivers children are encouraged to reflect regularly on the British values, understand what it means to be a member of a diverse society and recognise how yoga, meditation, talking and being outdoors can promote mental wellbeing. Our curriculum reflects the needs of pupils and is tailored to meet specific needs. It is taught as a planned, developmental programme of learning which is designed to provide the knowledge, understanding and skills that children need to lead healthy, safe, fulfilling, meaningful and balanced lives, both now and in the future.

How do we get there?

In the downloads section below you will find the progression of skills and vocabulary for PSHE.  These documents show how PSHE develops as the children move through the school.
